Surprise fun for the weekend...
We got a surprise when we came home from milking Friday night. Sally was on the phone and telling us that she and Sam were halfway to our house! Scott had gone to Algoma for the weekend with his Dad for some fishing and encouraged Sally to come for a visit. Wonderful!!They got here about 9:30 and Sam was full of the dickens! Too long cooped up in the car, mostly. He entertained us for quite a while and then continued entertaining his mother until nearly midnight! Luckily it was our morning in on Saturday, so no harm done.We did a little bumming on Saturday, running into Waupaca so Grampa and Sally could get their glasses fixed, pick up Grampa's meds and then headed out to the cemetery to check on Grandpa and Grandma Bacon's plot. Other than the caretaker mowing the roses off - :( - it looked pretty good. The rose is trying to come back, and we pounded a couple of stakes into the ground next to it, so hopefully he/she will get the message. There needs to be some trimming of the bigger bush on the plot - a tree is growing up in the middle of it. Another time, as we didn't bring any tools. Back to Waupaca for Tacos and then a stop out to see Old-Papa and Old-Mama (?) - I don't think she goes by that, but it's cute! Got some good pictures - see the slide show above. After chores on Saturday pm, Sally, Sam and I walked down to the Towne's house to see their donkeys. Becky and Trent weren't home, but the donkeys were. Sally did one of her infamous animal calls and Bo, the white male, just came a running over and hee-hawing like mad! Must have been a good imitation! Between the noise and the mosquitos, Sam wasn't overly impressed. We'll have to try it another time, and make sure that Becky is around first.Sunday we had a quiet morning and then headed over to Weyauwega for the Rasmussen Reunion. It was a small group, and Sam was the only baby there - Sally was the next youngest! Sam didn't mind, as he was the center of attention. We stuck around until about 1:30 and then headed back here to pack Sally and Sam up and get them on the road for home. Sally missed her 2:00 target, but only by about 20 minutes, and they got home roughly the same time that Scott did. All in all, a really nice weekend - so glad they came!!!!
