Well, a lot has happened in the last couple of days.
Starting on Saturday morning, about 8:30 when Roger called us to let us know that Grandpa Bacon had a massive stroke and was going to be transported to Riverside Hospital in Waupaca. Then the call from the Nursing Home about a half hour later - he had passed away before the ambulance arrived.
Within a couple of hours we had notified most of the family and some of the kids were heading home. Josh and his family arrived after chores Saturday evening with Sally and Sam soon after. Mara and Mike couldn't come until later in the day on Monday as she has exams this week. They are all here now, and the house is starting to stir. Thomas is laying here in my lap, just having finished his morning bottle. It's good to have family here. It's the first time we have had them all together since both boys were born. The reason sucks.
We'll be heading to the church in a couple of hours to say our formal good-byes to the Patriach of the Bacon family. Most of us have said our personal good-byes over the last couple of days, both in our hearts and in sharing stories and pictures together.
Pa/Grandpa will be greatly missed, although he will live on in our hearts and in our children's children.
